Those Who Make

Portriats - 2025

Overveiw

Those Who Make is a personal portrait project developed in response to Photo Portrait Now at the National Portrait Gallery. It explores contemporary designers within their working environments, foregrounding space, process, and creative identity.

What We Could See

We see workspaces as extensions of the individual. Tools, materials, light, and environment become part of the portrait, revealing creativity as an ongoing process rather than performance.

The Goals

The project aims to make creative practice feel more transparent while demonstrating our approach to working with people: building trust, spending time in real spaces, and creating honest, considered visual narratives.

Film

The accompanying film captures the process behind each portrait, focusing on lighting, movement, and environment. It demonstrates a considered, behind-the-scenes approach to working with subjects, revealing how visual narratives are built with intention and care.

Photography

The project uses staged, cinematic lighting to shape real environments with precision and restraint. By documenting both the final portraits and the process behind them, the work reveals image-making as intentional, constructed, and transparent.
